5 things that make waking up early so beautiful

Today is another Monday (it's just another manic Monday, ooh ooh), if you've one of my recent posts, you will know that I don't hate Mondays like the other 99,99% of Earth's population. Even though I had to wake up at 5 am, get ready in half an hour and be at work at 6 am. It is darn early, but it is not bad. Actually, it's pretty great. And let me tell you why.
And thank you, Snapchat, for the marvellous quality of saved Snaps ...

Where were we ... yes, 5 things about 5 am on a Monday morning.

1. 5 am is a magical time
Why is it magical? No, I don't eat shrooms. It's because the whole world (or just the city) is still asleep. You're one of the very few people who are already up and packed to go and start the day. There is no fuss on the street, you will rarely meet a group of people/tourists passing by. All of the shops and malls are still closed, not even the cleaning ladies are working yet. Everything is still and peaceful and it seems like you own the path you're walking.

2. Early start
Even if you wake up at 7 am, not necessarily 5 am, you have the whole day in front of you. I woke up at 5, started work at 6 and at 11/12 am/pm I still have the whole day ahead. I can still make plans and fulfill them. This my work routine is hundred times better than my last one. I chose to apply for this job exactly for these two reasons: I will finally learn to wake up early and not consider noon as a normal time for breakfast, and I will have the late morning, the afternoon, the evening and the night to do stuff. At the last place I worked, I started at 5 pm. It was awful, not because of the work itself but because of the timetable. Practically, you start working at 5 pm and end, in the best case midnight, worst case 2 am (btw, I'm talking about working in Gastronomy/Hotellerie = waiting tables, service). Then I went home at about 2:30 am and collapsed, slept until noon, woke up and went back to work. What kind of life was that? How and when did I even manage to eat? And if it was on school days, I would go to school like a zombie. I don't know how I managed that, really.

3. The nature, duh
The flora and fauna is waking up way earlier than human beings. And that's incredible. The way it smells outside at 5 am is completely different than at 5 pm. It's fresh, not warm and not cold, still and the birds are singing, cats are getting back home from their party at 3 am with other feline friends. Everything that does not speak human is already up. How incredible is that!?

4. Learn discipline
If you, by need or by will, order yourself to wake up early every morning, it's already one of the best disciplines you can teach yourself. It is so hard to leave the warm bed and blankets and comfy cushions. But it's even better to fall in bad after a long day. Of course, I'm not telling you to wake up every day early, just sometimes, to experience the blissful falling in bed happily tired. And as you're getting older, you'll see that you automatically wake up earlier than when you were a kid. And it is not a bad thing. Of course, until you develop a sleeping disorder. Then call your doctor :D

5. The possibilities are unlimited
And I mean, I manage to go to work, do my job, get back home, do uni work, do chores, maybe go shopping or meet a friend, eat at acceptable hours and 3 times a week also go to gym. And that all even on days when I wake up super early. And this mainly happens on Mondays. And I love being productive. Do you see now why I love Mondays? Even though, I must admit I'm in close relationship with late mornings, but I'm in love with early ones too.

Let me know, are you an early owl by nature or by work/school/university/family necessities? Or does your day start at noon with a pizza? :)

Love,
Ieva

  1. I actually love waking up early, I'm a 16 year old on summer so by early I'm talking setting my alarm for 8 every day. Even though it isn't as early as 6/7, I've stuck to it and it has enabled me to do so much more with my day! I love mornings, as weird as that may sound...
