the red dress

We all draw inspiration from somewhere, whether it's the weather, our icons and role models, books or tv shows. For me, it's mostly music. I draw every and any kind of creative ideas and inspirations based on what I'm listening to at the moment. Once I listen to a certain song, an imagery of the sound comes to my mind and since I was a kid I would imagine the possible music videos or photographs of what I'm hearing. Until this day, I can't help myself but always have a picture in my mind for each song that I listen to. And fashionwise, this plays a big role in all my choices of outer appearance.
This post will be divided in different parts, each of a different human in the music industry that has influenced my fashion choices and also way of thinking. So, welcome to the first part of this series of mine.

As the photo above suggests and you may already guessed the first inspiration I'm going to talk about is - Lana del Rey.
As eccentric, passionate but also low profile pro as she can be, I love her in every way one can love a stranger. She writes music that I can listen to non stop. And there aren't many bands or artists that cannot bore my mind after one listen of their albums. She's one of those musicians whose heart breaks out through their lyrics and their creativity through the music and sounds. The art that she creates is so different from the other artists'. She has something so mysterious yet being so raw, so feminine yet so strong. I'm not fangirling here, but admiring an artist and her works. And her songs are something out of this world as she herself is (don't believe, ask James Franco).

By listening to her songs I wanna sway in dance and lay under the starry sky at the same time. I imagine different scenarios, different people, different places but always the same inner feeling and always the same reaccuring element that's both the protagonist and the least important aspect of the vision. It's always a dress and it's always in red. No matter the length, the cut, the fabric. The color is the key. So I've gathered some dresses that come close to what I imagine while listening to Lana's songs.
