How To Plan a Trip To Oz on a Budget

from here

If you are planning a vacation in the new year and think that 2018 may be the year of the trip to Australia, then this is the post for you. Not going to lie, Australia can be an expensive trip. The flights alone can be pricey, not to mention the cost of the things there. But a bit of time and research will allow you to take that dream trip without it costing the earth. So here are some tips to help you have a great trip, enjoy yourself, and not spend a ridiculous amount of money.

Drive on the Coast

One way to get around the country is to drive. Unless you plan on staying in the same place the entire time, then driving is going to be a cheaper option than internal flights in most cases. However, fuel can be a little pricey. But it has been shown to be cheaper if you drive in coastal regions, rather than in cities. So if you’re starting out in the west, then look for Perth's cheapest car rental, for instance, as well as being savvy when you drive. Limit the air conditioning and planning your route to avoid traffic are simple ways to use less fuel.

Go With Friends

If there are a few of you and you all have a travel budget, then it is going to be cheaper if you split the costs. Renting a car, villa, or hotel room is always going to be cheaper if there are a few of you splitting the bill. So think about going with friends, another couple, or inviting other family members along if you want to all keep costs down.

 Consider Camping

There are many benefits, especially cost-saving ones, that come from camping on vacation. And the good news is that if you want to go down this route, there are plenty of places that you can do just that. Of course, you aren’t likely to have your camping gear with you. But if you book in advance, there are places that will allow you to hire equipment out or have ‘glamping’ sites where everything is provided.

Depending on where you are in the world can have an influence on your opinion of tipping. But in Oz, there is no need to tip. You can if you want to, but there is no expectation of it. So if you are planning to eat out, you don’t need to worry about having extra money in your budget to leave for a tip.

Free Attractions

As with most vacation destinations, a lot of the main ‘tourist’ sites are going to be expensive. But there is so much natural beauty, including things like national parks and beaches that you can enjoy for no cost at all. So looking for some free things to do can be a good option so you’re not spending money everyday.
