The
fact of the matter is, that at the moment, we live in some pretty
uncertain times. So you might think the idea of planning your future
is pointless, as you can’t even plan a couple of months from now.
And while there is truth in that, and sometimes, what can go wrong
does go wrong. But it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have a plan
for your life.
Some things will change, of course. But on the whole, if you know
where you want to be going or where you want to end up, then it can
make it easier to get there. If you don’t plan, then it can feel
almost like you’re short changing yourself a little, and stopping
yourself from reaching your true potential.
It
can all sound like a lot of hard work, though, right? And to be fair,
it can be. But here are some reasons why making plans for your future
needs to be on your agenda.
Figure
Out Priorities
There
is a motivational speaker that has said that a lot of people spend
more time planning the wedding than they do thinking about being
married or the marriage. And that can be so true, in all aspects of
our life. If we don’t decide what
our priorities are,
then our time can be filled with things that don’t really have as
much meaning. Which is why making a plan, can put you on the path
that you want to be on and can help you to achieve what you want to
achieve.
Source
of Motivation
If
you don’t have anything to work towards, then where is your
motivation to get anything done or work hard to get there? Unless
you’re someone naturally inclined to work that way, then it is
going to be hard for you to even care about getting anything done. So
setting goals and planning how you want things to look ten or even
twenty years down the line, is really important.
Helps
Decision Making
If
you know where you want to end up, then it can make certain decisions
in your life easier. If you want to be a homeowner by the time you’re
thirty, for example, then it will motivate you to fix
your credit score
or
save more money each month. Career choices may be simpler if you have
a plan in mind, as well as other life decisions like where to move to
or what kind of education that you want. So half of the decision will
be made for you when you have a life plan in mind.
Security
With
a plan in mind, it can give you peace of mind that everything will be
fine in the end. It can help you to know that when you retire, though
that may be a long way off, that you have an idea of where you’ll
be at and will have planned financially for it. It may sound a little
doom and gloom, but there is never a right time to make a plan and be
prepared. It can require some flexibility as things do change, but it
will help in these four ways.

Ieva
