Time to Pivot? Huge Changes You Could Make In 2018

from here
Have you ever found yourself feeling stuck? You’re doing a job that you don’t feel passionate about; you are in a relationship that has no fizz, you are unhappy with your appearance or generally just find yourself going through the motions of your life with little joy? Your life needs a pivot. A big turnaround that shakes things up and changes everything. We’ve all been there, and it can be hard to know what to do for the best.
If you know that it’s time for a big life pivot, but you’re not sure what to do, here are some ideas to help you to get the life of your dreams in 2018.

Try a Big Challenge

We should all take on a huge once in a lifetime challenge at some point in our lives. Whether it’s having a go at NaNoWriMo or trying to climb Kilimanjaro for charity. Something that pushes you to your limits and takes you write out of your comfort zone be it physically, mentally or academically. Doing something that takes you out of your normal routine and pushes your boundaries for a while can help to put things in perspective and clearly highlight what’s important in your life and what isn’t.

Change Career

Changing careers can be terrifying. No matter how old you are, or what you do, starting from scratch is a scary thing. But, being in a job that makes you unhappy is surely worse?
There’s a difference between being a bit bored, and needing a total pivot, so it’s important that you recognise the difference before giving up on something you’ve spent a lot of time and money working towards.
Before making any decision, speak to your manager and colleagues. Consider moving to a different department or applying for jobs with different companies in your sector. It might just be that you need a challenge and that it’s time to push for promotion. Give yourself time to make this decision, and try setting yourself goals and targets to reignite your interest.
But, if you do conclude that it’s time to make a big change, don’t be afraid. Think about what you really want to do, research what education or experience you need and make it happen. Online study is a fantastic option if you find you need to go back to school as it allows you to study around your current job, without losing income.

Cut Them Out

Ending a relationship is another tough choice. But, there does come a time when you’ve tried talking and doing new things together, and it’s still not working. A time where you are unhappy and know it’s not getting better. That’s the time to leave. Be honest with yourself and your partner, and just do it.
Even harder can be dumping your friends. But they can make you unhappy too. We’ve all had friends that are only ever negative or those that we’ve known since school and feel obliged to hang out with, even though we no longer have anything in common. Dump them. For everyone’s good.
